What comes with the new house you buy?

People stage their homes to sell. They showcase it in the most beautiful way they can to attract potential buyers. You may love the way the home is decorated and you will simply adore the furniture, the artwork and other decors that you see. But remember, all those things do not come with the house.

Here is the list of things that usually convey with the house:

  • Built-in range, built-in oven, built-in dishwasher, and garbage disposal.

  • Built-in bookshelves, entertainment centers, benches, and desks.

  • Built-in wall/ceiling speakers.

  • Screen doors, window plantation shutters, sunscreens, blinds, curtains, and drapery rods (but not curtains or draperies).

  • Light fixtures (not ones with a cord!) and ceiling installed recessed lights.

  • Mirrors in the bathroom and other rooms (not freestanding) are considered included items. But some sellers remove them last minute. Better to mention them in contract.

  • A pool table may or may not be included. They are very heavy items. Some sellers don’t want to take it with them. Again, better to get that in writing.

  • Ceiling fans, smoke detectors, garage door openers, and remotes.

  • Chandeliers are debatable. If they are very expensive kind, the seller may take them when they go. Clarify with the seller.

  • All landscaping plants and trees and outdoor sheds.

  • Outdoor basketball hoop cemented into the ground (not the one that is freestanding).

  • Kitchen appliances like the gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and built-in microwave oven.

  • Bathroom fixtures, doorknobs, and cabinet handles are usually included.

Remember, the golden rule of real estate is to get all the terms in writing.
